Parents keep children off school in protest over changes to SAT’s exams

Parents and their children were took part in a national campaign, ‘Let Our Kids Be Kids’. The ‘strikes’ were part of the national protest against the latest changes to SATs exams for seven and eleven year olds, which parents argue are stifling creativity and putting kids under too much pressure. The government is planning to introduce a new marking system that gives a single national standard result in the form of a pass or fail. Education Secretary Nicky Morgan has suggested the changes will make British kids more ‘internationally competitive.’
